BEGINNERS COURSE

Our Beginners Course is suitable for those who have little to no knowledge of te reo Māori. This course focuses on the Māori alphabet, pronunciation, Māori words and basic Māori sentence structures. Each student will also have the opportunity to create their own pepeha. Pepeha is the way we introduce ourselves in te ao Māori, the Māori world.

This course includes:

- 8 Te Reo Māori lessons (1.5 hour in duration) taught via Zoom
- 8 Zoom recordings
- Weekly homework assignments to support your in-class learning
- Detailed lesson notes for each lesson
- Weekly kupu hou (new words) list to building on your te reo Māori vocabulary
- An accountability & practice group with learners in your geographical location
- A Recommended Resources List
- Unlimited email support throughout the duration of your course

ADVANCED BEGINNERS COURSE

Our Advanced Course is recommended for anyone who has taken a beginner level te reo Māori course before. The course includes revision of the beginner level course, basic sentence structures and more advanced sentence structures. Each student is also given the opportunity to share a karakia (prayer) and whakataukī (proverb) during the course.

This course includes:

- 8 Te Reo Māori lessons (1.5 hour in duration) taught via Zoom

- 8 Zoom recordings

- Weekly homework assignments to support your in-class learning

- Detailed lesson notes for each lesson
- An accountability & practice group with learners in your geographical location
- A Recommended Resources List
- Unlimited email support throughout the duration of your course
- On-going support through the Learn Māori Abroad Community Whānau Facebook group

CONVERSATIONAL COURSE

Would you like to improve your ability to have a conversation in te reo Māori?

Do you lack confidence to speak Māori in social situations?

Do you know how to read and write in te reo but struggle with speaking aloud?

Then this course is for you!

Our Conversational Course is focused on creating confident te reo Māori speakers. It is recommended for anyone who has a basic knowledge of te reo Māori and would like to improve on their current level of kōrero ā-waha (speaking out loud) and whakawhiti kōrero (conversing) in te reo. In this course we focus on the 10 key elements of creating conversations in Māori.

This course includes:

- 6 te reo Māori lessons taught via Zoom (1 hour in duration)

- 6 Zoom recordings

- 6 detailed lesson plans delivered via email before each lesson
- 100% oral homework assignments each week
- Weekly kōrero groups for practicing speaking in te reo
- Unlimited email support throughout the duration of your course
- On-going support through the Learn Māori Abroad Community Chat Group on Facebook and community chat meet ups via Zoom.

INTERMEDIATE COURSE

Our Intermediate te reo Māori course is specifically designed to develop conversational speakers who possess a strong knowledge of grammar, vocabulary and sentence structures in te reo Māori. Students will review basic and advanced sentence structures. Students will also learn how to do a basic mihimihi (acknowledgement speech) and how to share their whakapapa (family genealogy). A creative element is introduced in this course where students will create their own whakataukī (proverbs), karakia (prayer), ruri (poem) and waiata (song).

This course includes:

- 12 Te Reo Māori lessons (1.5 hour in duration) taught via Zoom
- Weekly class notes & homework assignments to support your in-class learning
- An accountability & practice group with learners in your time zone
- A recommended resources list
- Unlimited email support throughout the duration of your course
- Lifetime access to all class materials and Zoom recordings
- On-going support through the Learn Māori Abroad Community Chat Group on Facebook
